The Culmination of Courtship…

One of my favorite things to do when preparing for a wedding is writing the First Dance introduction. It’s at times incredibly tedious. It can even be frustrating. Despite needing to deliver a brief, approximately minute-long overview, writer’s block tends to appear often. I can spend hours, or even days, writing the introduction, and weeks, preparing to deliver it (by memory, note-free; yes, it’s a personal tight rope challenge that I enjoy). So you may be asking, why, if it’s such a strenuous process, do I consider it as one of my favorite elements of preparation? It’s very simple…the results…

Early in my career, I had a realization. Everything that each couple has experienced, has been leading up to this very moment. Sharing an exclusive dance, in front of their wedding guests, to commence their wedding celebration…this is the moment that all of the other moments have been leading up to. It is something that I began referring to as their culmination of courtship….
