Wish Upon A Wedding

As an event entertainer, it’s very easy to get caught up in the magical spirit of the event industry (as we all should). After all, luxury event industry professionals experience the amenities of some of the world’s most beautiful locations and venues, taste some of the most exquisite cuisine, and meet some of the most loving, inspiring, and appreciative clients, and event partners. Regardless of the event, or location, celebration is universal. Smiles. Dancing. Emotion.

But, every once in a while, life happens, and reminds us that it’s not all peaches and cream. Although I personally follow the positivity-above-all mindset, I understand that there are times where life is just, for lack of a better analogy, punching you in the face. I’m not talking about the minor inconveniences, like balancing a daily schedule, the discontinuation of your favorite cereal, or not being able to think of a third example for your blog post. I’m talking about life-altering, and at times, life-threatening situations. Unfortunately they exist. Ailments don’t select regions, ages, or even take likeability into consideration. The best individuals can find themselves in severe situations. Luckily, there are support systems. This is where I shift back to the positivity…

I recently had the opportunity to attend a Wish Upon A Wedding gala. For those unfamiliar with the organization, it’s a non-profit that assists couples that are experiencing life-altering circumstances or facing serious illness, with gifting them their dream wedding or vow renewals. Read the previous sentence again please. Yes, it’s as amazing as it sounds. With various chapters throughout the United States, as well as a national board, Wish Upon A Wedding facilitates involvement and funding with some of the industry’s top professionals. The routes of assistance are sponsorship, wedding dress donation, fundraiser hosting, partnership, corporate giving, and direct donation. In an industry that is often consumed with perfecting the tiniest details, sourcing the highest quality aptitude and expertise, and magnifying respective elements, it’s often refreshing to take a step back and experience the moments of gratitude that life tends to present when you look for them. Despite the stresses of our industry and potentially hectic event days, my like-minded industry colleagues and I often strive to focus on the positives and gratitude-filled moments. Wish Upon A Wedding presents just that.

Needless to say, the organization, and its affiliates are putting forth tremendous efforts to create memorable and astounding results. As a part of their year-long efforts of raising funds, and awareness, annual galas are held to bring together the industry’s top professionals, for an evening of gratitude, fundraising, networking, and exceptional ambiance. The 2019 New York Gala, was held at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers, in Chelsea, NY.

“Wish Upon A Wedding relies on the generosity of individuals and businesses to help grant wedding Wishes for our couples. You can help those couples in need by donating your times, products, and services to Wish Upon A Wedding wishes. These donations bring happiness and joy to those fighting serious illness or life-altering circumstances.” Learn more here. While on the site, browse through some of the love stories and past wishes to learn about the individual couples that were granted their dream weddings/vow renewals.
